Optimist Essay and Oratorical Contests 
The Optimist Club of Marble Hill presents the Optimist Essay and Oratorical Contests

These contests are open to students under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2020. Local winners will advance to higher level competitions, earn scholarships prizes and gain experience  in writing and public speaking. Local students recent years have won at district and national levels, earning thousands of dollars in prizes 

The Essay topic for this year is “Reaching your DReams by Choosing Optimism.”  Contest rules and entry forms are attached and also will be sent by email to language arts teachers. The District price is $2,500. Essays must be submitted by january 23, 2021. Point of contact  is Suw Brewer, 235-0045 or Sugarhill45@hughes.net. 

The Oratorical topic for this year is “Healing the World with Optimism.” Contest rules and entry forms are attached and also will be mailed to speech teachers. The local oratorical contest will be late February , with a specific time and place to be announced. The winner at the World competition can win as much as $22,500 in prizes. To give students practice in following rules, organization of thought and communicating through writing, the Optimists have conducted a parallel consent for middle-school students and will continue to do the same this year. If you indicate an interest, we also can open a Kids Speak Out competition for young orators, using the same contest topics and rules, but judged at the pre-secondary age level, please let us know your thoughts about this by calling either of the above phone numbers.
